Leadership Community of Practice with Sagdrina Jalal


This Community of Practice is designed for farmers market managers and board members seeking to cultivate authentic leadership to operate more resilient markets.

Through a series of 5 interactive sessions, market organizers will focus on the 4 M’s of market leadership: Mission, Management, Measurement, and Messaging. By integrating storytelling, reflection, and collaborative problem-solving, the Community of Practice empowers everyone in the cohort to lead in a genuine, intentional and community centered way.

Facilitated by Sagdrina Jalal, owner and principal consultant of Atlanta Leadership Consulting and lead organizer of SageD Collective, these sessions will explore:

  • Leveraging diverse perspectives for more inclusive leadership

  • Critical thinking and systems-level problem-solving

  • Conflict resolution and trust-building

  • Effective communication and community engagement

  • Developing partnerships that support long-term market success

Participants will conclude the series with a deeper understanding of their unique approach to leadership, stronger relationships within Oregon's network of market leaders, and the ability to transfer knowledge and activate skills that engage your stakeholders in developing effective solutions for the market.

With extensive experience in food systems leadership, Sagdrina served as the founding executive director of the Georgia Farmers Market Association, currently serves as an executive board member for Slow Food Atlanta and Unearthing Farm and Market, played a key role in developing Farmers Market Coalition's Anti-Racist Farmers Market Toolkit, and was a featured speaker at this year's InTents conference. A community-driven innovator and heart-centered educator, Sagdrina is committed to advancing equity and liberation by developing authentic communities.
