Voter's Registration
Promoting Community
Involvement at
Your Farmers' Market
Civic participation is at the
heart of creating sustainable communities and
historically farmers' markets have been at the
heart of
civic life. Voting is also part of our community
life yet many of our citizens are not registered
to participate.
Trish Stormont, Tigard Farmers' Market,
believes, "Registering community members to
vote at farmers' markets is an extension of these community based
activities. We are creating our government whether
we vote or not. It is critical that people
join in the process." (Read
Tigard Farmers' Market Voter Registration Booth story)
Rick Seifert, Hillsdale
Farmers' Market, not only signed up voters but
organized volunteers to walk three precinct.
Rick shares, "Since last
fall, the Hillsdale Farmers’ Market have been
registering voters in the market and recruiting
folks to help register. Our table attracts about
25 people each market. We have about 70 volunteers
in five precincts around Hillsdale and Multnomah
Village. ....more

will receive a postcard confirming their status
